The first month of 2007 has nearly passed and I am already backlogged in my ASCET ‘To Do’ list. One item on the top of the list is this column. I fully intend on keeping you all up to date on the happenings of the North Central Region and ASCET at the national level. I know, you’ve heard me say that before and not follow through with it. Well I truly hope that this time will be different! I will do my best to update this section of the Kansas City Chapter website each and every month.
The Annual Winter Executive Committee meeting will be held on February 10th in Austin, Texas. The agenda for the meeting this year is not as full as in the past. But the items for discussion, in my opinion, will be complex and generate a lot of discussion. Generally this meeting is used to establish the agenda for the Annual Meetings held each summer. By the way, this years annual meeting is scheduled for May31 through June 2nd in Buffalo, New York. In addition to our normal meeting routine we hope to be able to have a joint meeting with the Executive Board from our Canadian counterparts, the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT). Over the past several years we have developed a good relationship with their board and they have offered to ‘sponsor’ us, if you will, on a couple of international agreements specific to Engineering Technicians and Technologists. I would encourage any of you that can attend this meeting to do so. It really is a wonderful way to see how your society works and to get involved at the national level.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new officers of the Kansas City Chapter; Brian Marrs, President; Alan Grasshorn, Vice-President; and Victor Godinez who retained his position as Secretary/Treasurer. Susan Ferrell is the new National Director for the chapter as well. Please join us at a future chapter meeting to introduce your self and to meet and support these new officers. Incidentally, the next meeting will be held on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, at the Yardhouse restaurant at the Legend’s at Village West in Kansas City, Kansas.
As always, as the Regional Vice President for ASCET it is my pleasure to serve you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns regarding anything ASCET.
Sincerely,
Larry Killer, CET North Central Regional Vice President
