History

The Kansas City Chapter of ASCET was founded in April 1964 and was recognized in the United States as the first chartered chapter. In addition, the Kansas City Chapter was instrumental in founding the National Society with the first organizational meeting being held in Kansas City.

Purpose

The primary purpose of the Chapter is to promote the activities and purposes of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians within the Kansas City area.

Aspirations of the Chapter

  • Recognition and improvement of the services of its members as vital components of the engineering team.
  • Establish cooperative realtions with other engineering societies.
  • Education by collecting and disseminating information that will constantly increase the techinical knowledge of its members and bring engineering to the attention of students, thereby fostering an interest in the future of engineering.
  • Promote Certification as a means of ensuring a constant high level of proficiency for techinicians.
  • Ensure its memberships maintain the highest degree of professional competence and integrity and adhere to the principals of the Society's Code of Ethics.
